India VIX Option Strategy Guide
India VIX is not a buy or sell signal by itself. It is a risk and premium context tool. The same NIFTY view can require a different strategy when VIX is low, normal, high, or extreme.
VIX-Based Strategy Selection
| VIX Condition | What It Usually Means | Strategy Preference |
|---|---|---|
| Low | Cheap premium, weaker reward for selling options | Debit spreads, smaller risk |
| Normal | Balanced premium and movement | Credit spreads, debit spreads, iron condors after confirmation |
| High | More premium but larger intraday movement | Hedged credit spreads, reduced quantity |
| Extreme | Gap and whipsaw risk | No trade or very small defined-risk trades |
Practical Rule
First decide the maximum rupees you can lose. Then choose the strategy. Do not choose the strategy first and hope the loss stays small.
